Fr. Edward Burns

Reverend Edward J. Burns, age 88, of Fall River, passed away Monday, December 14, 2015 after a lengthy illness in the Catholic Memorial Home. Born in Fall River, on May 25, 1927, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Ann (Reilly) Burns. He was the brother of the late M. Dolores Burns, Nathan Burns, and Ann (Burns) Hoversen. Reverend Burns was ordained May 22, 1954 in St. Marys Cathedral, Fall River by the late Bishop James L. Connolly. He served as parochial vicar at St. Joseph, St. Louis, and St. Williams Churches all in Fall River. He was Parish Priest at the former Our Lady of Fatima Church now St. Francis Assisi Church in Swansea; the former Immaculate Conception Church in Fall River; St. Peter the Apostle Parish in Provincetown; and St. Marks Church in Attleboro Falls. He is survived by nieces and nephews.
