Fr. Carl Eckert

Fr. Carl E. Eckert, 82, died at Carmel Care Medical Center. He was a native of Sellersburg, IN, the son of the late August and Mary Agnes Popp Eckert. He was Ordained May 8, 1954 and served as Associate Pastor, St. Ambrose, Anderson, 1959, Pastor Sts. Peter and Paul, Goodland; 1968, Pastor St. John the Baptist, Tipton; 1972, Chaplain, St. Joseph's Hospital, Kokomo; 1977, Pastor, St. Joseph, Reynolds; 1987 Granted Retirement. He also served as Chaplain at the Pendelton State Reformatory and the Knights of Columbus, Layfayette Diocese. He is survived by his sister, Mary Evelyn Hankins (Joseph), of Avon, IN; two brothers, Matthew Eckert of New Albany, IN and John "Jack" Eckert (Mary) of Sellersburg, IN; and nieces and nephews.
