Viola Hecke

Viola G. Hecke, 81, died at Saint Anne Nursing Home. Born in Bloomfield, Green County, Indiana, she was an Indiana University graduate and received her Masters Degree in Theology from Saint Meinrad.She was a grade school teacher at Precious Blood Catholic School and Queen of Angels School. She became director of Religious Education for Precious Blood School and the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese. She served 35 years, retired in 1990. She was a longtime volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital and Life Care Nursing Home. She was a routine blood donor for the Red Cross. Surviving are her daughter, Theresa Ann (Hecke) Taulbee of Fort Wayne; sons, John (Julia) Hecke, Dave (Pamela) Hecke, Greg Hecke and Mark Hecke, all of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Hecke, in 1968; and four brothers. Preferred memorials to Most Precious Blood Catholic Church or Alzheimer's Association.Published in the Fort Wayne Newspapers on 12/27/2006.
