Bernard A. Melevage, 79, passed away at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Michigan City, IN. Mr. Melevage was born June 12, 1928 in New Philadelphia, PA to the late Simon and Susan (Matta) Melevage. On December 27, 1965 in Miller, IN, he married Celine Susorney, who preceded him in 1979; then on August 15, 1996 in Beverly Shores, IN, he married Judith Rausch, who survives of Beverly Shores. Also survived by brother, Msgr. F.J. Melevage of Valparaiso, IN; sister, Virginia Melevage of Valparaiso, IN; two nephews: Raymond (Kate) Melevage of Avon, IN and Alan Melevage of CA; three nieces: Bernadette (Ewaldas) Pakalniskis of Valparaiso, IN, Lynnette (Dale) Fredericks of Crown Point, IN and Laurette (James) Karagos of Cold Spring, NY; several great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Melevage. Mr. Melevage was a member of St. Ann of the Dunes Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council, Chesterton, IN and National Educational Organizations. He was a former member of Orchard Hills Country Club, Michigan and Pottawattomie Country Club, Michigan City. He received his BS degree from St. Meinrad College, Master's degree from University of Notre Dame, S.Ed from University of Chicago and P.Ed from Indiana University. He formerly was a University Professor at Calumet College, East Chicago, IN, Sacred Heart University in CT, Loras College, Dubuque, IA, Ivy Tech State College, Gary, IN and retired from Purdue University North Central, Westville, IN. He authored numerous publications to include: Declining Enrollments and Faculty Reduction in Emerging Universities, Teaching Behavior as a Function of Personality, and Use of Theory for Institutional Self Study. He will be remembered for his search for and support of truth and justice. He excelled in and enjoyed sports - especially golf, and Notre Dame basketball and football.
