Fr. Richard Mueller
Rev. Richard J. Mueller, 91, a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully in Marquette Manor. Fr. Mueller was born July 9, 1918 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Charles G. and Lena Hook Mueller. He was ordained a priest on May 30, 1944 with his first assignment being assistant pastor of St. John Catholic Church in Indianapolis. Fr. Mueller was appointed secretary of the chancery office in 1947 and was founding pastor of Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church in 1958. In 1973, Fr. Mueller was appointed pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Indianapolis. From 1983 until 1985 Fr. Mueller served as an associate pastor of St. Pius X parish. An expert in liturgical matters, Fr. Mueller served for many years on the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission and was appointed its chair in 1982. He also served as a pro-synodal judge and an auditor for the Metropolitan Tribunal. In his retirement, Fr. Mueller traveled extensively and enjoyed his residence at Marquette Manor. Fr. Mueller is survived by 7 nieces and 1 nephew.
