Ambrose J. Frey

Ambrose J. Frey was born on January 12, 1920, the fourth child of thirteen born to John and Ellen Frey. He was born and grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Many influences in his family life directed his life-long choices and interests. He loved his religion and church, his family, gardening, and especially music and singing. While he was still very young his mother noticed his exceptional singing ability, and made sure that he had vocal training. While he was teaching he directed some high school musicals. He sang, taught and directed Gregorian chant at St. Meinrad Abbey in St. Meinrad, Indiana.Ambrose leaves his beloved wife of 37 years, Lorraine, four brothers: Charles (Kathy) of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Msgr. Francis Frey of McDonald, Pennsylvania, Thomas (Sue) of Spring, Texas, and Bernard (Irene) of Meadville, Pennsylvania. His two sisters are Ellen (Gerry, RIP) Pry of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania, and Alice (Chuck, RIP) of McDonald, Pennsylvania, and numerous nieces and nephews.Services for Ambrose will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 10:00 A.M., at St. Louis de Montfort Church, with a reception afterward at his home.Arrangements are pending at Lady Family Mortuary & Crematory of Arroyo Grande.Magner-Maloney Funeral Home and Crematory600 East Stowell Road, Santa Maria, CA 93454Phone: 805-925-2753 Fax: 805-922-4930
