Pic _news _rudolech _paintingSaint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery, St. Meinrad, IN, will host "Beauty is in the Heart," an exhibit of oil paintings by Lawrence Rudolech. The exhibit will be on display from September 1 through October 15.

Rudolech is a lifelong resident of Madison, IN. He attended the John Herron School of Art in Indianapolis and, until 2007, pursued a career in graphic design. In the late 1990s, he returned to his youthful interest in painting, inspired by his wanderings in the back roads of Indiana.

He paints both in the studio and on location, attending plein air events as far away as Texas. He exhibits widely in galleries, including the Brown County Art Gallery, Nashville, IN; the Hoosier Salon, Indianapolis; and the McBride Gallery, Annapolis, MD.

Rudolech paints in oil, using bright colors and bold energetic brushstrokes. His subjects include figures, landscapes and cityscapes. Painting is a way to express his emotional response to simple things, such as a road covered in early morning fog.

He explains, "I am trying to make sure that [people] do not miss the beauty that comes with small, and sometimes simple, things in life. I realize that it is only with God's blessing that I am able to see more with my heart than with my eyes."

For library hours, call (812) 357-6401 or (800) 987-7311, or visit the Archabbey Library's website:

The exhibit is free and open to the public. Those wishing to view the exhibit may want to arrive at least 30 minutes before closing time.
