Organist to give free concert at Saint Meinrad

Dr. David Lamb, councillor for Region V of the American Guild of
Organists, will give a free organ concert on Monday, October 15, at
3:45 p.m. CDT in the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Church, St. Meinrad,
IN.
Dr. Lamb is a graduate of the Indiana University Jacobs School
of Music. While on the IU campus, he was an associate instructor in
choral conducting, the assistant conductor of the Indiana
University Singing Hoosiers, and the associate conductor of the IU
All-Campus Choruses.
With over 20 years of experience as a public school music
administrator and choral director, Dr. Lamb is currently an adjunct
instructor of voice at Franklin College in Franklin, IN, and an
adjunct instructor of music at Indiana University/Purdue University
in Columbus, IN.
Dr. Lamb has held music leadership positions in churches in
Bloomington, Columbus, Jeffersonville, New Albany, and Seymour in
Indiana, and in Louisville, KY. Currently the director of music and
organist for the First United Methodist Church in Columbus, IN, he
was selected to perform as the conference organist in 2003 and 2004
for the South Indiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist
Church.
He has presented guest organ recitals in Arkansas, California,
Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky,
Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South
Carolina, Washington, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Concert
engagements in Europe have included presentations in Germany,
Austria, and two recitals in France at the historic churches of St.
Augustin and La Trinite in Paris.
Dr. Lamb also recorded the CD, "Moments of Majesty, Seasons of
Celebration," on the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Church organ in
2006.
The 45-minute program will include compositions by Johann
Sebastian Bach, Marcel Dupré, Camille Saint-Saens, Alexandre
Guilmant, George Thalben-Bal, Louis Vierne and "Monastery
Processional," Op. 127 by William Horatio Clarke. "Monastery
Processional" was composed in 1907 for the Consecration of the
"new" Estey Great Double Organ in the Archabbey Church at Saint
Meinrad.
The concert is free and open to the public. Parking is available
