Nov. 2-Dec. 4: Oil paintings exhibit
Friday, November 2- Tuesday, December 4
Saint Meinrad Archabbey
Library Gallery will host an exhibit of oil paintings, "Two Views:
Lynn Dunbar and Bill Fletcher." The exhibit will be on display from
November 2 through December 4.
Kentucky artists Lynn Dunbar from Louisville and Bill Fletcher
from Lexington share a love of the land that inspires them to
explore their natural surroundings, often working on location to
catch the ephemeral qualities of light and color.
Dunbar uses vibrant color and expressive brushstrokes. Fletcher
simplifies forms to capture the essential atmosphere. Both travel
extensively in search of subject matter. Fletcher has painted
western landscapes and Dunbar has explored aerial views of the Ohio
Valley.
Dunbar was born and raised in Indiana. She attended Purdue
University before moving to Kentucky, where she completed her
master's degree at the University of Louisville. She has exhibited
her work extensively in the region including at the Zephyr gallery,
Louisville, KY, and the Lucretia Gallery, Lindsay Wilson College,
Columbia, KY. A participant in many "paint out" events, she won
Best in Show at the Louisville Visual Arts Association Paint Out in
2010.
Fletcher began painting in
oil in 1996, building a national reputation for his landscape
paintings and as a workshop instructor. His work has been featured
in Southwest Art, International Artist and
Keeneland Magazine. He has exhibited in the region, most
recently in the gallery at the Brown Hotel in Louisville.
