Abbot Martin Marty Guild
Named after the first abbot of Saint Meinrad, the Abbot Martin Marty Guild was begun in 1992 to recognize individuals who have taken a leadership role in supporting the work of Saint Meinrad.
Membership in the Guild is reserved for individuals who contribute $1,000 or more to Saint Meinrad in any given year. The program year runs from September 1 through August 31. Membership is renewable annually.
Members of the Abbot Martin Marty Guild are:
- Invited to the annual Day of Recollection held at Saint Meinrad during the fall
- Listed in the annual Honor Roll of donors (members may request to remain anonymous)
- Remembered daily in prayer by the monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey, especially on the last Friday of January and during Mass on January 23, the anniversary of the election of Abbot Martin Marty as the first abbot of Saint Meinrad.
New members also receive a special medallion, engraved with their name, that symbolizes their membership in the Abbot Martin Marty Guild.
The Einsiedeln Society
The Einsiedeln Society, established in 1988, recognizes individuals who have a made a special commitment to support Saint Meinrad in perpetuity, by building its endowment or making memorial and planned gifts.
The Society is named after the Abbey of Maria Einsiedeln in Switzerland, the Benedictine monastery that founded Saint Meinrad more than 150 years. Two monks from the mother abbey came to rural, southern Indiana in the 1850s and bought land to start a new foundation. Their efforts sowed the seed of Benedictine holiness in a new and fruitful area.
Lifetime membership in The Einsiedeln Society is offered to those who invest in the future of Saint Meinrad by:
- Remembering Saint Meinrad in their will,
- Making a planned gift to Saint Meinrad (a trust, gift annuity, insurance policy, retirement plan beneficiary designation, etc.), or
- Making an outright or cumulative gift of $5,000 or more for a specific endowment purpose.
With a gift of $10,000 or more, you can name a specific endowment fund for the purpose or memorial designation of your choice.
Each June, members of The Einsiedeln Society are invited to Saint Meinrad to attend Vespers and enjoy dinner and a program. Daily, the monks remember the Society's members in prayer, particularly on July 16, the Feast of Our Lady of Einsiedeln, the patroness of the Archabbey Church.
