Indiana Bicentennial Commission endorses Lincoln book

Lincoln -Play -Bk -Cover -for -webThe Indiana Bicentennial Commission has endorsed a book of Lincoln plays by Fr. Gavin Barnes, OSB, as a Bicentennial Legacy Project.

The book is titled The Indiana Years & Between Friends: Plays about Abraham Lincoln.

Fr. Gavin, a monk of Saint Meinrad Archabbey, St. Meinrad, IN, wrote "The Indiana Years" as part of the 1959 sesquicentennial celebration at Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial.

The play "Between Friends," a story of President Lincoln's friendship with his Civil War generals, Grant and Sherman, was featured during the 2012 season at Lincoln Amphitheatre in Lincoln State Park.

2016 is the 200th anniversary of Indiana's statehood, as well as the 200th anniversary of the year the Lincoln family moved to Indiana.

The book, published in 2013, is now listed on the Indiana Bicentennial website, www.indiana2016.org.
