Co-workers honored for service

During its 21st annual Service Recognition Banquet on April 15, 2009, Saint Meinrad Archabbey in St. Meinrad, IN, honored 115 active co-workers and 40 retirees who have 25 years or more of service.

“Every year, we have the privilege of thanking our co-workers,” says Archabbot Justin DuVall, OSB. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to recognize their contributions to the work of Saint Meinrad; and for all their contributions, the monks are extremely grateful.”

Seven co-workers received special recognition during the banquet.

Renus Waninger of Fulda was honored for reaching 50 years of service. He works in electrical maintenance for Physical Facilities. He was presented with a framed print of the Archabbey Church.

Recognized for reaching 25 years of service were: Linda Altmann of Ferdinand, Sonia Bryant of Evanston, Jack Gogel of Dale, Mary Meyer and Mary Jo Waninger, both of St. Meinrad, and Linus Mundy of Jasper. Each new honoree was presented with the Saint Meinrad silver coin.

Linda Altmann is a list analyst and computer operator at Abbey Press; Sonia Byrant is lead operations analyst at Abbey Press; Jack Gogel is a recently retired cost engineer at Abbey Press; Mary Meyer is a secretary for Food Services; Linus Mundy is director of the Abbey Press Publications/One Caring Place division; Mary Jo Waninger is a nurse’s aide and phlebotomist for the Infirmary and Health Service.
