Four join Board of Overseers

One new member and three returning members have joined the Board of Overseers for Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology, St. Meinrad, IN.
The Board advises President-Rector Fr. Denis Robinson, OSB, on matters related to the School’s programs and performance and addresses strategic questions related to the future of the School. Each member serves a three-year term.
The new board member is Fr. Richard Doerr of Carmel, IN. Returning members include Judge Cecile Blau, Jeffersonville, IN; Bonnie Graham, Washington, IN; and J. Robert Shine, New Albany, IN.
Fr. Doerr is pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Carmel. He previously served as parochial vicar at St. Louis de Montfort Church in Fishers, IN, as well as Our Lady of Mount Carmel before he was named pastor.
He received a BA degree from Purdue University and earned his MA and MDiv degrees from Saint Meinrad School of Theology. He was ordained in 1993.
He is a founding spiritual director of the Frassati Society of Young Adult Catholics in the Diocese of Lafayette. He also worked with medical professionals to start the Trinity Free Clinic of Hamilton County. As a vocalist, Fr. Doerr has produced two inspirational CDs to help fund youth and young adult ministry initiatives.
Judge Blau previously served on the Board of Overseers from 2002-08. She recently retired from her second six-year term as judge of Clark Superior Court II in Jeffersonville. She is now serving as senior judge. She has three children and is a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Jeffersonville.
She is on the board of the Ogle Foundation, First Savings Charitable Foundation, First Savings Financial Group Inc. and First Savings Bank. She also serves on a number of legal committees and organizations. She has served on the Southern Indiana Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Leadership Southern Indiana, Community Foundation of Southern Indiana, IU-Southeast Board of Advisors, Personal Counseling Service Board of Directors, Economic Development Council of Southern Indiana, and several other organizations and committees.
Judge Blau has an undergraduate degree in education from Northern Illinois University, a master’s from Indiana University and a JD from the University of Louisville.
Mrs. Graham served on the Board of Overseers from 1995-2001 and 2002-08, and served two terms as the Board’s chair. She and her husband Beeb (Robert C. Graham III) reside in Washington, where they are members of Our Lady of Hope Parish. They have four children.
Mrs. Graham graduated from Newton College in Newton, MA, and dedicates her time to volunteer work. Her charitable activities include past chair of the Saint Meinrad Campaign Cabinet, chair of Development Committee for the Catholic Education Endowment Board (Washington), and member of the Diocese of Evansville Review Board, the special fundraising committee for the Washington Catholic Schools, as well as several other boards and committees.
Mr. Shine previously served on the Board of Overseers from 1995-2001 and 2002-08. He is a certified public accountant and chairman of Monroe Shine and Co. Inc. in New Albany.
He serves on the Board of Directors of the Hilliard-Lyons Government Fund and is a senior counselor of the Dean’s Advisory Council of the School of Business at Indiana University. He serves on the board of advisors of Abbey Press, the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Endowment Committee, the Audit Committee of Saint Meinrad Archabbey and the board for Providence Retirement Home in New Albany. He also is involved with the Rotary Club, is past president of the Indiana CPA Society and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Mr. Shine has a BS degree from Indiana University. He has received the Distinguished Entrepreneur Award from the IU School of Business and the Chancellor’s Medallion from IU Southeast. He was also honored by IU as a distinguished alumnus and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Law degree.
