Fr. Patrick was ordained on June 1, 1991, for the Diocese of Belleville.

In 1994, he came to the Saint Meinrad community, and professed vows as a Benedictine monk on August 6, 1995. He professed his final vows on August 15, 1998.

In addition to his teaching duties, Fr. Patrick is an associate formation dean in the seminary. He also serves as a Defender of the Bond for both the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and the Diocese of Evansville, as well as Wing/Catholic Chaplain for the Kentucky Air National Guard.
