The Seasoned Pastor

Seasoned Pastor Top Banner

This five-day workshop, conducted on the Saint Meinrad campus, addresses topics of concern for those who have been serving as pastors for a number of years: parish revitalization, health and wellness, improving communication, cultivating a priestly entrepreneurial spirit, and managing the emotional and spiritual ebb and flow of priestly life and ministry.

Cost - $995

  • Included: Overnight accommodations, meals from Monday supper through Friday lunch, program curriculum and printed materials,
  • Not included: purchases at Jack's Coffee Shop, the UnStable, Scholar Shop or Gift Shop.

The Institute for Priests and Presbyterates is able to offer workshops and programs at a lower cost due to the generosity of many benefactors. The actual cost per participant for "The Seasoned Pastor" workshop is considerably higher than the amount charged.

Thinking Outside the Box: Cultivating a Pastoral
Entrepreneurial Spirit

An entrepreneur is one who organizes and manages an enterprise, usually with considerable interest and risk. For the pastor, cultivating a priestly entrepreneurial spirit toward the enterprises he organizes and manages is a skill requiring development and specific knowledge. In this presentation, Frank Knott helps pastors look at entrepreneurial development for parishes and ministries reflected in priestly spirituality and lived reality. Afternoon panel of priests share the entrepreneurial process each employed to bring about a new pastoral enterprise.

Quick, Simple, Healthy Cooking for One

More than a presentation, this dinner-preparation session is designed to help the workshop participant gain some strategies for preparing meals that are both good tasting and good for the priest. Taking care of ourselves is good stewardship of our bodies and allows us to serve well those entrusted to our care. Beyond having the knowledge and experience to prepare meals well, simply finding time to cook can be a big challenge.
Best Practices, Better Results: Getting the Most from Parish Pastoral and Finance Councils, Professional Staff and Volunteers

A pastor's ability to engage his parish's professional staff, as well as recruit, inspire and increase lay volunteers, will help him accomplish the parish's mission. In this session, Justin Clements will look at best practices and practical tasks regarding the pastor's role in visioning, organizing, communicating, following through to completion and celebrating.

Ten Tips to a Great Plate

As a pastor, the time you devote to eating right and exercising often gets placed on the back burner when confronted with the unplanned demands of ministry. In "Ten Tips to a Great Plate," dietician Melanie Buschkoetter, RD, CDE, will guide participants through some easy steps that pastors can employ in making healthy lifestyle choices.

Improving the Effectiveness of Your Parish Communication

Sharing information is vital to the life and health of every organization. But communication is more than just sharing information. Everything we do (and don't do) communicates something about us. In this presentation, Mr. Jeff Jenkins discusses the pastor's role in setting the tone for what and how the parish community communicates.
