Sawyer Stern has 25 years of risk management
experience, including 12 years as a telecommuting risk manager. She
was the 1989 recipient of the Chartered Property and Casualty
Underwriter (CPCU) Distinguished Graduate Award and in 1990
received the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) Distinguished
Graduate Award.
Sawyer earned her Certified Insurance Counselor designation in
1991, was an instructor in the National Alliance Certified Risk
Manager program from 1996 to 1998, has been certified as an
instructor in OSHA's Voluntary Compliance program, and holds an
Advanced Safety Certificate from the National Safety Council. She
graduated magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota with a
bachelor's degree in cultural anthropology.
For more than 10 years, Sawyer has provided independent risk
management services including coverage comparisons, acquisition and
divestiture due diligence, loss data analysis, contract review, and
risk management audits as a consultant for Limited Risk. In this
position, she primarily provides risk management consulting
services to a broker located in Chicago that services large,
multinational, privately held companies.
From 1999 to 2001, she was under contract to Northwestern Steel
& Wire, one of the original steel mini-mills, as an outsourced
risk manager. Their operations included the world's largest
electric arc furnace, used for melting scrap into steel, and three
mills that produced structural steel shapes for a variety of
commercial, industrial, and residential construction
applications.
