Master of Arts
The Master of Arts (Catholic Thought and Life) degree, requiring 48 semester hours of academic work, is designed for students seeking a basic understanding of Catholic theology and its philosophical foundations, as well as for those who wish to pursue further theological graduate study. Core courses include the study of philosophy, Scripture, Church history and systematic theology. Students also may study biblical languages (Hebrew and Greek), as well as Latin and Spanish. The degree provides a foundation for further studies in theology.

Program Outcomes
Students will be able to:
  • Articulate the philosophical foundations for the Catholic Church;
  • Articulate the Christian creedal heritage as it is reflected in the Roman Catholic tradition;
  • Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the biblical and historical origins of the faith;
  • Articulate an understanding of the celebration of the Christian mysteries and the moral life.

Admission Requirements
The Master of Arts (Catholic Thought and Life) presumes no prior theological education. A four-year undergraduate degree (in any field) from an accredited institution of higher learning is required. Before admittance into this program, all seminarians must complete the application process.
