Meet The Director

Fr. Kenneth Davis, Director of Program for Formation in Hispanic Ministry

Father Kenneth Davis, OFM Conv, is the director of formation for Hispanic ministry and associate professor of pastoral studies at Saint Meinrad School of Theology.

Fr. Davis supervises the program, particularly arranging for site visits to immersion programs. He meets with each student enrolled in one of the tracks prior to the student's first required class. Additionally, non-Spanish-speaking seminarians are exposed to a variety of resources to assist them in integrating the Spanish language into their daily lives. Weekly liturgies in Spanish, as well as a Spanish-speaking-only meal, are examples. The program director is available for consultation, as needed.

Fr. Davis founded the doctoral program at the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, TX, and was an assistant professor at Mundelein Seminary. His pastoral work includes training and producing materials in Spanish for the U.S. and Central America for the International Office of RENEW. Prior to that, Fr. Davis was the founding director of a pilot program for Hispanic ministry for the Archdiocese of Chicago, which since has been adopted throughout the archdiocese. He was a missionary in Central America as well.

Fr. Davis recently co-edited Preaching the Teaching: Hispanic Homiletics and Catholic Social Justice Doctrine, published by the University of Scranton Press. He has also published United States Hispanic Catholics Trends and Works 1990-2000; El Renacer de los Jovenes/Renewal of Youth; Bridging Boundaries: The Pastoral Care of U.S. Hispanics; Misa, Mesa y Musa - Liturgy in the U.S. Hispanic Church; Primero Dios - Alcoholics Anonymous and the Hispanic Community; and a Spanish-language book titled Cuando el Tomar ya no es Gozar.
