Jim and Ann Cavera met and married when they were Peace Corps
Volunteers in Liberia, West Africa in 1966. They are the parents of
two sons, two daughters and they also have four grandchildren.
From 1997-2011 the Caveras wrote "The Second Half," a weekly
column devoted to growing in faith, hope, love and laughter in the
second half of laugh. "The Second Half" received two first place
awards from the Catholic Press Association (1999 and 2005) as well
as other awards.
The Caveras have been active in parish ministry for more than
forty years. Currently, they are active in RCIA as well
as other ministries at St. Aloysius Parish, where the Diocese of
Toledo has assigned Jim as a permanent deacon. They
also a monthly column for the Catholic Chronicle for the Diocese of
Toledo. In 2005 Liguori Press published Grounded In God; a
book of reflections for Catholics in the second half of life.
