After the students leave in May, the Hill is relatively quiet
until the middle of June when the "One Bread, One Cup" conferences
start. This year, conferences one and two took place in June and
with that brought a flurry of life and activity that I'm told the
monks look forward to. From community building to liturgical arts,
there is never a dull moment, or photo, from OBOC.
Family and friends of Fr. Luke Waugh, OSB, were on the Hill in
early June for Fr. Luke's priesthood ordination. Later that month,
he presided at the Benedictine Oblate investiture ceremony during
the Oblate Study Days. Br. John Mark Falkenhain, OSB, spoke to
oblates about oblation as a vocation during the retreat.
Priests of the Archdiocese of Louisville were also on the Hill
this past month for a retreat about cultural diversity.
This week marks a brand-new month and we look ahead to the final
OBOC conference, the feast of Our Lady of Einsiedeln and the
homiletics week for Memphis permanent deacon candidates, before the
Alumni Reunion in August.
Photos this month were taken by seminarian Minh Vu, Novice
Charles Peñalosa and me.
