Louisville artist to display work at Archabbey Library
Tuesday, April 2- Thursday, May 2
Location: Archabbey Library Gallery
Saint
Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery, St. Meinrad, IN, will host an
exhibit of oil paintings by Louisville, KY, artist Joyce Garner.
The exhibit will be on display from April 2 to May 2.
Garner, a self-taught artist, will be showing paintings from her
Table Series. These paintings are large, colorful works that are
both whimsical and exuberant.
The tables function as meeting places for a variety of
individuals and creatures who gather to share a meal, converse or
argue. There are the old and the young, the active and the
dreamers, shy characters and extroverts.
Garner explains, "I do not want realism in the faces, but I do
want expression that is readable." Life happens around tables and
it is a narrative that the viewer is invited to enjoy and
explore.
Garner has exhibited her work in the region and nationally, both
solo and in group shows. She is represented by Reinike Gallery in
Atlanta. She also exhibits in her own gallery on East Market Street
in Louisville.
Her work is found in many private and corporate collections,
including University Hospital (lobby triptych) in Cincinnati,
Kaiser Permanente in Atlanta and the Standard Country Club (lobby)
in Louisville.
For library hours, call (812) 357-6401 or (800) 987-7311, or

The exhibit is free and open to the public. Those wishing to
view the exhibit may want to arrive at least 30 minutes before
