Pen and ink drawings on display at Archabbey Library

University of Evansville Emeritus Professor of Art
William F. Brown will be exhibiting drawings in the Saint Meinrad
Archabbey Library Gallery, St. Meinrad, IN. The show, "Observations
in Pen and Ink," will be on display from January 8 through February
Professor Brown has a Master of Fine Arts degree from the School
of the Art Institute of Chicago and taught at universities in
Illinois, Arkansas and West Virginia before moving to Evansville,
IN. Prior to teaching, he was a commercial artist and food
illustrator in Chicago.
His illustrations appeared in newspapers and magazines
throughout the country. At the University of Evansville, Brown was
chairman of the Art Department from 1998 to 2011.
This exhibit is about space, entryways and pathways, the
strength of structures, interiors and exteriors, stone
ornamentations and decorations. Many of the drawings are of spaces
observed and recorded in Europe. They invite the viewer to share
the excitement of the artist's encounter with the space.
