Piano and Cello Concert

Cellist John Winninger and pianist Diane Rivera will present a
program of chamber music in the Gallery of St. Gregory Hall at
Saint Meinrad Archabbey on Sunday, March 23, 2014. The program
begins at 3 p.m. CDT.
Winninger studied at Indiana University, double majoring in
radio-TV production and music. Recently retired, he was the senior
educational TV producer-director at WTIU on the IU Bloomington
campus for over 40 years. He still works with the Jacobs School of
Music at IU, directing their live-stream webcasts of ballets,
operas and concerts.
He is a charter member of the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra and
was the principal cellist for close to 30 years. He has also been
the principal cellist and manager of the Bloomington Pops.
Additionally, he has been in the Cascades String Quartet and piano
Rivera earned music degrees from Drake University and the
Peabody Conservatory of Music. She has taught piano at the Peabody
Preparatory Department, the University of Evansville, Westminster
Choir College, the University of Richmond, Drake University, and in
the pre-college program at Indiana University.
As a soloist, she has performed throughout the Midwest, Texas,
New Jersey and Virginia. She has collaborated with singers and in
ensembles, particularly in piano four-hands literature.
In recent years, she has hosted a series of solo and chamber
music concerts in her Bloomington home, and maintains a small
studio of adult piano students. She is a Benedictine oblate of
Saint Meinrad Archabbey.
The one-hour program includes selections from composers such as
Pergolesi, Haydn, Fauré and Brahms.
The program is free and open to the public. Parking is available
