Introduction

Program Manager assists the Administrator in carrying out the program's mission by overseeing the execution of program activities. The Program Manager will also supervise the administrative assistant, assist with web content, function as event meeting planner, and maintain office functions when Administrator is traveling.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in theology, education, business administration, organizational leadership, or similar field; have 2-4 years' work experience; and be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church. Bilingual (Spanish), experience with social media platforms, and basic understanding of Catholic young adult ministry and Church structure are desirable.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversees execution of program activities
  • Supervises and evaluates Communications/Administrative Assistant performance
  • Schedules and facilitates two annual consultations with Advisory Board
  • Schedules and facilitates cohort support/training opportunities for parishes, clergy, laity
  • Collaborates with catechists/facilitators of community activities
  • Assists with evaluation of parish partners and core team staff
  • Assists in the creation of a parish resource guide to help parishes create a program of self-assessment, outreach, and accompaniment
  • Assists in dissemination of findings from Phase 1 via print, digital media, workshops
  • Manages symposia planning and execution for all levels of young adult leaders to disseminate our findings and spark creativity in ministry with young adults
  • Assists with website content and function in collaboration with the Program Director and Administrative Assistant/Communications staff
  • Communicates and collaborates with diocesan young adult ministers at a local, regional and national level
  • Collaborates with other programs in the Seminary and School of Theology to inform and enhance their understanding of best practices of ministry with young adults
  • Represents the Young Adult Initiative at national conferences at the request of the Program Director
  • Assists with ongoing evaluation of the Young Adult Initiative using performance indicators in media, research, current practices
  • Executes a plan of sustainability to be implemented as the Initiative progresses, in collaboration with Program Director
  • Functions as event meeting planner in coordination with Guest Services for YAI events, including planning, logistics, implementation, and evaluation
  • Maintains correspondence, internal and external
  • Manages and organizes production of print/electronic materials
  • Inventories and purchases program supplies
  • Maintains YAI office functions when YAI director is traveling
  • Collaborates with Program Director in guidance of parish cohort selections
  • Provides training and guidance for work of volunteer parish core teams

Experience & Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in theology, education, business administration, organizational leadership and supervision, communications, or similar field      

Experience:  2 - 4 years

Skills and Abilities:

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
  • Organizational, planning, budgeting, oral, and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal and collaborative skills in dealing with staff members, project representatives, and the public in general
  • Knowledge and proficiency in appropriate office computer programs and ability to learn new programs when necessary
  • Experience working with various software applications:
    • Proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel required
    • Experience with MS Access preferred
    • Experience with WordPress, website design, and website maintenance preferred
    • Experience with social media engagement preferred
    • Desktop publishing experience beneficial
  • Basic understanding of Catholic young adult ministry and Catholic Church structure desirable
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the department
  • Bilingual (Spanish) desirable
