Abbey Caskets, a division of Saint Meinrad Archabbey, will host a public open house on Sunday, May 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Central Time. Abbey Caskets is celebrating its 20th anniversary and the blessing of its on-site workshop in St. Meinrad, IN.
Abbey Caskets is located just past the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Gift Shop along State Road 545. Tours of the workshop will be given, caskets and urns will be on display, and refreshments will be available. Archabbot Kurt Stasiak, OSB, will bless the workshop at 1 p.m.
Abbey Caskets was started in 1999 to offer handmade wooden caskets and cremation urns directly to consumers. The business’ revenue supports the work of Saint Meinrad Archabbey.
With the new workshop on site, Abbey Caskets has developed a new division called Abbey Woodworking to build custom furniture pieces for churches and homes.
