Head shot of Fr. Julian Peters, OSBTitle: Director, Permanent Deacon Formation Program

Current Assignment:  Director of the Saint Meinrad Permanent Deacon Formation Program, Formation Dean in the Seminary,    Instructor in Latin

Professed Date:

Simple: August 6, 1983

Solemn: August 15, 1986

Prior Work/Life Experience:  I was 17 years old when I came to Saint Meinrad College right out of high school, so I've grown up here. My work/assignments since entering the monastery have included things I would never have imagined…driving the mail/delivery truck, apprentice in the wine cellar, being secretary to the abbot, administrator of the Cathedral in Indianapolis, just to name a few. I've always had (and continue to have) many irons in many fires.

Education History:

  • BA (Classics), Saint Meinrad College, 1982
  • MDiv, Saint Meinrad School of Theology, 1988
  • MSA, (Nonprofit Administration)UniversityofNotreDame, 1994

Other Interests:  Cooking, languages.

What Attracted Me to Monastic Life:  There were a lot of things, ranging from the silly to the sublime.  More than anything, a sense that this is where God wants me.  "The heart has reasons which reason does not know."
