At the beginning of March, it felt like spring would never
arrive. Now at the end of April, the Saint Meinrad grounds are
green and flowering, and there is a sense of summer and the end of
the semester in the air.
One of the main Saint Meinrad events in March was the Saint
Meinrad Day of Service. Participants in Wilmington, DE; Evansville,
IN; Indianapolis, IN; St. Meinrad, IN; and Louisville, KY; served
meals, cut wood, painted, built shelves and landscaped.
Other events in March include the blessing of the renovated
spaces on the third floor of St. Bede Hall, an oblate retreat and
the Lenten Song of Shadows concert in the St. Thomas Aquinas
Chapel.
Two of my favorite events to photograph happened in April; seven
seminarians were ordained deacons and the school held the Around
the World party. These two events are so fun to photograph because
they are happy occasions where people gather to celebrate an
important achievement and culture. Saint Meinrad is located in a
rural area, but it really is a hub of rich culture and
diversity.
Pictures from March and April were taken by Novice Charles
Peñalosa, Mary Jeanne Schumacher, seminarians Minu Vu and Jerry
Pratt, and me.
