Archbishop Daniel Buechlein celebrated his
25th anniversary of episcopal ordination on March 2.
Fr. Timothy Sweeney gave the annual oblate
retreat on March 20-22. The title was "Come Away by Yourselves to a
Deserted Place and Rest Awhile: Mark 6:31."
Fr. Prior Cassian Folsom received the Pro
Fidelitate et Virtute Award on April 14 from the Institute on
Religious Life near Chicago. He took part in the weekend program
and delivered a lecture to the group.
Fr. Barnabas Gillespie returned to the abbey
June 3, and the parishes of St. Michael (Cannelton) and St. Pius
(Troy) will return to the pastoral care of the Archdiocese of
Indianapolis.
Fr. Cyprian Davis received an honorary
doctorate from Xavier University in New Orleans on May 12.
Fr. Mark O'Keefe will be returning to the abbey
on August 10 and will teach full time in the Seminary and School of
Theology.
Fr. Godfrey Mullen has been appointed pastor of
St. Mary Parish, Huntingburg. This appointment is effective August
10, 2012. Father Godfrey will continue to teach part time in the
Seminary and School of Theology.
Br. Zachary Wilberding will assume some new
responsibilities in the Seminary and School of Theology for the Lay
Degree Program. In addition, he will assist part-time in the
monastery infirmary and will be the editor of the Community
Bulletin.
Br. John Glasenapp received a grant/graduate
assistantship from Fordham's London Centre. It is a five-week
course offered by the theology department on "Medieval English
Heretics and Mystics."
Fr. Raymond Studzinski was re-elected to the
Board of Trustees for the Seminary and School of Theology for a
two-year term.
Fr. Denis Robinson was re-elected
president-rector of the Seminary and School of Theology for a
second term. The term will run from 2013-2018.
Abbot Lambert Reilly will be returning to the
abbey on August 15 and has been appointed to help with spiritual
direction in the Seminary and School of Theology, as well as
continue his retreat work.
Fr. Adrian Burke has a new position as
pastoral liaison for co-workers, effective July 1. He also assists
with spiritual direction and teaches courses in sprituality in the
Seminary and School of Theology. He served as business
manager/treasurer of the Archabbey since September 2009.
Fr. Rupert Ostdick has been appointed to assist
in the Office of Monastery Vocations.
Fr. Colman Grabert has been assigned to work
with Br. John Mark Falkenhain in establishing and maintaining the
Praesidium, Inc. program at Saint Meinrad for abuse risk
management. He will also continue his work with Archbishop Daniel
Buechlein.
Fr. Christian Raab received a Licentiate in
Sacred Theology on May 12 from the Catholic University of
America.
