Deepen your love of liturgy and music by completing a Liturgical Music Certificate through the Graduate Theology Program at Saint Meinrad.
Saint Meinrad’s Certificate in Liturgical Music is available as a standalone 18-credit certificate or as a concentration within the Master of Arts in Theology. With no audition required, the program is designed for both classically trained musicians and active church musicians seeking deeper formation in music, liturgy, and theology. Students will develop a broad understanding of Catholic church music from the Middle Ages to the present and pursue elective coursework in an area of liturgical music especially important to them. Courses are offered in both online and in-person formats, with placement testing or prerequisite coursework available for those who need additional preparation.

The Institute for Sacred Music advances the Second Vatican Council’s call for both the full and active participation of the faithful in the liturgy as well as their intellectual and spiritual training in the musical tradition of the Church. Through its events, resources, and course offerings, it brings together scholars and practitioners to promote sacred music as a living and vibrant tradition, grounded in history but responsive to the unique demands of the moment.
