24:440 Synoptic Gospels & Acts

The core of the course is the study of the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke. Following discussion of introductory matters, including the question of the relationship between the Gospels, each Gospel is studied with regard to its historical setting, literary features, and central theological concerns. The course will also focus on Acts, as sequel to Luke’s Gospel and narrative hinge for the New Testament as a whole. The course will emphasize throughout the close reading of Scripture, and is designed to equip those engaged in active teaching ministries, and as a springboard to ongoing study.
