"We had a Lenten Soup and Scripture Night with Young Adults and did a FOCUS Bible Study! We had five new young adults come or reach out to me to join. They were welcomed in right away to the community!"
"I was impressed by the way one young adult has taken on the leadership role needed for this group. He is excited to share ideas to collaborate."
"We had such a success with our Young Adults Night Out Event this month! We got a group of 18 Young Adults together for dinner and then went to see the first part of season five of The Chosen. This series has made such a difference in my own spiritual life, and it was so awesome to meet other young adults who were just as interested.
I also got the chance to meet a new couple who are moving into the area in early May. They were visiting Mass this weekend. I'm excited to get to know them better and I think they'd be great additions to our core group. They were very interested in learning more about our parish and the Young Adult Initiative, and I look forward to working with them in the near future!"
"There are a couple of high school seniors that are coming into the Catholic Church at Easter Vigil Mass this Saturday. We are already talking to them about being the "spark” to get our single, without children, English-speaking young adult group rolling. This group will provide a space for many of the 18 –29 year olds that do not feel connected to the two current groups. The current groups are for either Spanish-speakers, or young adults with kids. It is truly inspiring to see these two young men, who without practicing Catholic parents, have made this big personal choice for their own lives. They are on fire for the faith, and that will be wonderful for the foundation of this group. I am excited to see where the Holy Spirt takes them and those they will provide a space for in our parish."
"James, who just came into the church less than a year ago, is so fired up and excited to be Catholic that he joined the OCIA team immediately. As he went through the program last year with other young adults, he fell in love not only with the Church but also with making sure that everyone is seen, known, and loved. His smile is infectious and his openness to all is clear from the moment you meet him. James now serves as the head of hospitality for OCIA. He is always greeting and making people feel welcomed into the process and is training up a team of others on how to show radical hospitality."
"At St. Joseph's, one of the biggest events of the year is the Mardi Gras party and this year was no exception. The food preparation and cooking starts at 12 noon and continues until the event starts at 6:00 pm. The number of people that showed up was so vast that we needed twice as many tables and chairs. The number of people that saw the need to lend a hand in these last minute tasks brought a smile to my face."
"A group of Young Adults gathered for dinner and a book discussion with two of our deacons. They discussed the book "He Leadeth Me" by Walter Ciszek."
"The young adult group had fun serving at the Fish Fry."
