Ministry Moments | August 2025 Updates from our Partner Parishes

"We recently had our annual Parish Garage Sale, and we had 57 young adult volunteers show up over the course of the set up, the sale, and take down. There were many new faces among them – we are super excited to see the continued growth in our young adult community within the parish."

"Young adults Enjoyed themselves at a cookout they planned – and then ending the night in the chapel in adoration! Additionally, Theology on Tap was really well received as a summer activity."

"Our Core Team [young adult leadership team] got together to map out the next couple of years, and it was incredible...It all stemmed from going to dinner with Cassie on her visit to the Cathedral. There seems to be another great awakening in the young adult community here and a desire to do more outreach!"

"The Rescue Project wrapped up for us, and the young adults reported growing closer to the Lord through this program. Young adults were also a part of the Alpha Evangelization team for our St. John Fest. They handed out interest cards and invited people into conversation. Several young adults left at the end of July for a mission trip for fire relief in California. Here they shared the love of God through their physical hands and feet and stayed rooted in prayer. We also had our new Pastoral Associate of Discipleship lead his first young adult group/meeting and had a Bible study and volleyball night."

"Our summer BBQ was a big success! We had almost 25 people attend with several new people."

"Shield & Shamrock (our young adult and young families group) are excited to have a number of members assisting with OCIA. They are offering to host a 'donuts and coffee' after Mass once a month, a backyard movie night at the leader’s home with a newly acquired popcorn machine (fun and yummy), and lots of creative ideas for community and spiritual events."

"Our Hispanic young adult group has changed over leadership with a new committee for a two-year term. Two of the four new committee members are fully bilingual, which is exciting for attracting the many bilingual young adults in our parish who do not have a specific group that 'fits' for them. The evolution of this group over the past three years has seemed slow, but it is wonderful to see the fruits of the progress as they grow together, unified in their culture and faith, despite some differences."

"At the last few events, we have seen a rise in people that are new in town. They seem to be seeking us out especially when they do not know very many people in the area."

"This month, our diocese hosted a Bible and Brews young adult event on 'Praying with the Senses of Scripture.' Also this past month, our parish hosted weekly Wednesday evening Mass followed by a talk reflecting on a personal relationship with Jesus. Before one of these Masses, a young adult that has started attending was asked to lector right before Mass started. He rose to the occasion and was eager to help. Since this event, he has decided to join our Young Adult Initiative core team. We are excited to have added a few new members to our team this month!"

"Recently at Pax, we did a Rosary walk after our book study and we found a fellow young adult who needed a group to pray with him. Luckily, we just happened to be there at the same time, so we were a group that was there for this guy, which was very good for all of us."
