"One of our OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) Inquirers went to Theology on Tap and he's hooked!"
"I had a mother of a young adult from another parish call and tell me how much fun her son had at our trivia night. He is usually very shy and doesn't go out too much, but he really enjoyed our trivia night. Not only that, but she wanted to know if he could attend more of our events as a non-parishioner and of course we said yes!"
"August was a lively month for our parish and young adult group. Our parish started up our Fall Alpha season and our very own young adult, MJ, was asked to be the emcee of the season! She's stepping into leadership in a bold beautiful way! Next, we had a young adult event led by Isaac Cohen where we ate dinner, prayed the rosary, and watched a documentary on St. Carlo Acutis. We feel encouraged and ready to become saints because of Carlo. One of our very own, Adam, got confirmed and received into the Catholic Church! We are so proud of him! Lastly, a group of us went line dancing together, and it was just a great time to spend together and to connect even outside of our parish boundaries."
"Our Shield and Shamrock group continues to support growing young families while presenting many opportunities for community and spiritual growth. A few members are starting a Catholic Home School group (the first one in our area) that will meet once a week in our parish center."
"Our End of Summer Food Fest was a great success. A young family from Shield and Shamrock Group used the new popcorn machine to make and sell popcorn to the church families. Our Hispanic young adult group sold 'raspados,' a Mexican shaved ice. When the family selling popcorn had to leave a bit early, they asked our Hispanic group if they wanted to take over. It was a great bonding moment for the groups. Now the Hispanic young adult group knows how to use the machine for their own movie nights and events."
"There is a young couple in the parish who were born and raised in Rwanda. They are now US citizens and have joined the parish. They are bringing their baby for baptism soon as well as having their marriage convalidated. While they are not attending 'official' young adult events, they recently joined us for a Sunday (after Mass) pop up lemonade stand we had on our Last Supper Sculpture Patio. They are a faith-filled young couple with such rich experiences to share with us."
