Saint Meinrad Archabbey

A catholic monastery devoted to the teachings of St. Benedict

April 25-May 1, 2017

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the creation and development of our Board of Overseers. We invited our Board of Overseers, past and present, to a special ceremony and banquet this weekend.

In their honor, we dedicated the courtyard on the other side of the Gallery (opposite the Holly Tree Courtyard with the brick pavers) in their memory and honor. We are grateful for all of our Overseers' work over the past 50 years to help us serve the universal Church.

Brothers William and Simon competed in what we believe is the first-ever seminary disc golf tournament (at least in our "local" circle of seminaries). Seminarians from Saint Meinrad, Mundelein, Conception and Bishop Bruté participated. Some of our seminarians acquired 9 additional moveable holes to turn our 9-hole course into a temporary 18-hole course.

A heck of a storm brewed up on Friday night and Saturday morning. The power went out a couple times, and we had a tornado warning around 10 p.m. Friday night. Water slowly crept up toward the gift shop as the Anderson River tends to flood with significant rainfall.

Father Eugene led a retreat through the Guest House this weekend: "Praying with the Gospel of Luke."

Each day the monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey write another page in the long history of Benedictine monks throughout the world. Here are recent events chronicled at Saint Meinrad.
