Saint Meinrad Archabbey

A catholic monastery devoted to the teachings of St. Benedict

July 4-11, 2017

On Tuesday, we prayed for justice and peace in our country and our world, especially commemorating the 4th of July. Brother Martin and Brother Michael (a Passionist who helps with some of our art retreats) grilled burgers and salmon for our evening meal. We enjoyed colloquium and picnic fare and some good time enjoying one another's company.

Father Paul learned some of the ropes at Sts. Meinrad and Boniface parishes with Father Anthony, as Father Paul will be helping in the area with sacramental assistance.

The third "One Bread, One Cup" conference started on Thursday and ended this Monday. Several monks helped with teaching and also hearing confessions at the Penance Service on Saturday evening in the Archabbey Church.

The "One Bread, One Cup" staff and interns drive to Conception Abbey in Missouri this Wednesday for the final summer conference -- our first offsite "One Bread, One Cup" conference.

Brother John Mark returned last week from Rome, where he taught some conferences to the International Junior Benedictine Summer School -- spearheaded by our Father Edward at Sant' Anselmo. Brother Joel attended the Summer School and is now in Einsiedeln spending some time there at our motherhouse.

Father Nick Monco, OP, spent some days with us on retreat. This was his fourth or fifth time with us for an annual retreat.

Several Little Sisters of the Poor have been with us on retreat, as well, staying at our Guest House.

Each day the monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey write another page in the long history of Benedictine monks throughout the world. Here are recent events chronicled at Saint Meinrad.
