Saint Meinrad Archabbey

A catholic monastery devoted to the teachings of St. Benedict

March 7-13, 2017

Brother Francis kicked off our Lenten series of conferences on Wednesday with his conference on "Temptations in the Desert and the Spiritual Life."

Father Jeremy led a retreat this weekend for parish secretaries titled "Praying the Psalms in the Office."

Congratulations are due to Brothers Peduru and Antony-Maria (Marmion Abbey), who made their deacons promises on Thursday with their third theology classmates.

We cut our grass in our monastery courtyard for the first time (since moving back) on Thursday when it was 70 degrees, and now it is snowing today. We are not sure if it is spring or winter here. Is it the same with you?

I will close this About the House with Brother Francis' opening prayer from his Lenten conference:

Let us pray:

Good and gracious God,
we pray for your bountiful blessing
this Lenten season,
that hope may grow in tribulation,
virtue be strengthened in temptation,
and eternal redemption be assured.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Each day the monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey write another page in the long history of Benedictine monks throughout the world. Here are recent events chronicled at Saint Meinrad.
